Biography

Dr. Myo Kyi graduated MBBS Degree from Institute of Medicine 1 Yangon in 1988.Then he completed Postgraduate Diploma, Dip Med Sc (Surgery) in 1999 and Master Degree ,M.Med.Sc (Surgery) in 2002 from Institute of Medicine(2) Yangon. He has been practicing General Surgery for more than 20 years. Dr Myo Kyi gained his training in Myanmar in the Yangon General Hospital, Central Women Hospital and Yangon Children Hospital. After serving 3 years in Government Service as a Junior Surgeon, he was appointed as General surgeon in Ministry of Health, Malaysia in 2005.He completed his advanced surgical training courses which are Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC) in Singapore in 2008, Basic Emergency Sonography for Trauma (BEST) course in Singapore in 2009, Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgical course in Malaysia in 2011 , Lichtenstein Hernia Repair course in Malaysia in 2011 and many advanced Endoscopy and Laparoscopic Surgical courses in Overseas.

Dr. Myo Kyi is a Life Member of the Myanmar Medical Association, Surgical Society and the Myanmar Medical Council. He is also a member of the Malaysia Medical Council and Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (MSGH). He won “Best Government Servant Award for 2010”conferred by the State Ministry of Health, Johor, Malaysia. In addition, Dr. Myo Kyi published many articles in many local, regional and international academic papers about his experience and participated actively in international surgical conferences.
Worked as General Surgeon at North Okkalapa Hospital in Myanmar and at Hospital Sultanah Aminah and Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah in Johor Bahru, Malaysia for 8 years. Gained surgical experience from Myanmar and recently from Malaysia where he worked as a Consultant General Surgeon between 2005-2013.

Throughout 8 years of service in Government Hospitals in Malaysia, Dr.Myo Kyi provided services in

Vast numbers of Emergency and Elective Endoscopic procedures including Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Tube Insertion and Colonic Stenting.
Many Laparoscopic Surgery including Laparoscopic Appendicectomy, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and Hernia repair etc.
Stapling procedures of Gastro Intestinal Tract Surgery and Procedure for Prolapsed Hemorrhoids (PPH).
Several cases of Breast Cancer Surgery
Accident and Emergency Surgery
Many other emergency and elective surgery including Endocrine (thyroid), Urology (Cystoscopy and Stenting) , Pediatric and Vascular Surgery.

As academic activities, Dr. Myo Kyi actively involved in CME on Trauma Management, Endoscopy topic etc. He also conducted training programs to medical students and junior surgeons and chaired many discussions and Morbidity/Mortality and Quality. After 8 years of continuous service in Malaysia, he has now returned with invaluable experiences and skills to serve patients in Pun Hlaing Siloam Hospital.
